Webflow Hosting - Price Increase In 2023/2024

December 8, 2022

A quick update on Webflow's new hosting costs which are changing in 2023 and what this means for existing and new clients.

As long term Webflow users here at Wakeford Digital, we wanted to pass on some changes regarding hosting that will impact both new and existing clients.

Why do you use Webflow's hosting?

Wakeford Digital utilises Webflow's hosting for all our website design in Hobart and Tasmania.

We do this for a few reasons, including:

  • it makes website publishing super easy - meaning only one click as opposed to having to export then upload code for each and every change
  • it utilises the content management system (CMS) - hosting in Webflow means we can use the inbuilt CMS for content organisation
  • it enables the client editor - making changes and updates by clients incredibly easy and fast

What changes are happening?

For the first time since 2016, Webflow are updating their prices to reflect the ongoing costs as well as a range of new features they have, and continue, to release.

Previously, we used Webflow's client billing to handle all hosting payments, however this was phased out in 2022.

Wakeford Digital now pays for all hosting directly to Webflow, and clients are now all on annual hosting plans to reimburse this cost.

Previously on a monthly plan, the cost of hosting was $16 USD per month, and this is increasing to $23 USD per month (on an annual subscription).

For Wakeford Digital, we previously charged $350 AUD per year to cover this hosting cost, which will increase to $450 AUD (ex GST) in 2023 to reflect the changes from Webflow.

While we recognise this is a steady jump in cost, we feel this is justified by Webflow given their new features as well as increase in costs. Some of these new features, which benefit your website now or in 2023, include:

  • Memberships
  • Logic (both of which are now available in beta)
  • improvements to core workflows with CSS grid
  • CMS performance enhancements
  • faster publishing
  • WebP support

"We know many of you are curious about the future of Memberships and Logic, so we’re glad to share that access to the fully-released version of both features is also included in our updated Site plan pricing," - Webflow team.

What does this mean for existing and new customers?

New customers looking for a website in 2023 should get in touch immediately to lock in the cheaper price for 12 months. After 31 December, all hosting costs will be reflected as the new cost - currently $450 AUD per year (ex GST).

If you'd like to know when your renewal date for website hosting is or are having financial difficulties, please get in touch as we're always happy to discuss options and opportunities.

Where can I learn more?

Webflow have written a detailed blog post about their pricing updates, or as always you can get in touch with us here at Wakeford Digital for more clarification.
